eCool Hand-Cranked Cooler Uses the Earth to Chill Beer Cans Underground

Published by:

eCool

Created by four inventors from a Mors, a small island in Northern Denmark, the eCool is a hand-cranked beer cooler that resides largely underground, using the naturally cooling effects of soil to lower the temperature of the cans inside. When you want a beer, turn the handle on the electricity-free unit, until a can emerges on the conveyor belt from its subterranean chamber. Installing the cooler requires some landscaping tools and a bit of manual labor.

It’s advised to use a garden drill, but can be installed with a shovel as well, if you’re a real man. The earth cooler’s top is very well isolated and maintains about the same cooled temperature throughout the whole container.

The eCool also protects the 24 cans inside its chamber from frost during the colder months of the year.

Romantic Clothing Sculpted From Carrera Marble in ‘The Identity Collection’ by Alasdair Thomson

Published by:

Elizabeth-Alasdair Thompson

Scottish artist Alasdair Thompson‘s current series “The Identity Collection” features breezy romantic clothing that has been sculpted from gorgeous Carrera marble. Each “garment” is modeled after donations from family and friends in an exploration of combining the ethereal nature of fabric with the cold weight of stone.

Through his current series of sculptures, Alasdair is exploring the way fabric hangs and folds, and is attempting to capture that lighness and gracefulness in stone. Named ‘The Identity Collection’, his recent sculptures are carved copies of garments donated by his friends and family. Seeking to capture the characters of those he invited to donate, he surrendered the control of the content of the series by allowing others to submit garments of their choosing for him to carve. The results are simple and understated, as well as timeless and nostalgic. – OnForm Sculpture In Stone
